Music Workshops

In September 2009, we launched our new music workshop programme in Edinburgh.  Six weeks later, at a packed-out city centre gig, members of the pioneering group, some of whom had never even played a note previously, took to the stage to entertain with guitars, pianos and singing.  It was a fantastic and memorable occassion.

ME-Workshops-The-GigUnlike other music lessons, our workshops focus on ‘the gig’ – this is not about putting people on the spot for a high-pressure performance.   It’s about putting conventional academic tuition styles to one side and actually getting on with the playing – playing pieces and playing with other people.  In an informal atmosphere, it is a great way of over-coming inhibitions of playing in front of others.  It is also a fun social event to be enjoyed by friends and family of everyone involved.

We are running our workshops throughout the year in Edinburgh for guitar and are introducing piano and singing. Workshops are planned for further cities by the end of 2010. You will be able to find out about these soon on this website.

Open to all abilities and ages, the music workshops offer hands-on, practical help in a relaxed, fun-filled atmosphere.  Whether you have a guitar in the attic you have always meant to get round to playing or want to build on existing technique.  Currently the workshops are led by guitarist and singer Isard Aquilo.

The six-week courses are held on Tuesday evenings from 7pm till 9pm in St Thomas High School, Chalmers St , Edinburgh – they are run by Most Entertaining, independently of St Thomas’.  Workshops cost £10 per session.  The workshop gigs are hosted by Henderson’s Cafe on Hanover Street, Edinburgh.
